CAMERON HIGHLANDS:
MyPPP traditionally willing to change seats with two Barisan Nasional
(BN) in the general election to the 14th (GE14) in the spirit of
cooperation and solidarity, said its president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas.
He said the two were the Kepong parliamentary seat in Selangor State
Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sand Bedamar in Teluk Intan, Perak, which
will be submitted respectively to Gerakan and MCA.
Kayveas, who
is also adviser to the Ministry of Transport said he had held talks on
the exchange of the seat by Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong and
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
"MCA president agree to submit to any seat MyPPP either Parliament or
Assembly and a decision on the matter would be announced later, while we
have agreed to submit to Parliament Gerakan Kepong.
"MyPPP not
otherwise chair-conscious party is a party that emphasizes solidarity
and cooperation among BN component parties to ensure victory in the 14th
general election," he told Bernama after chairing a meeting of the Supreme Council MyPPP here on Sunday.
In the meantime, Kayveas hinted to contest in the 14th general election
in the parliamentary constituency of Cameron Highlands is the place of
origin.
"I have asked for the blessing of the prime minister
(Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) before coming here (to serve the
community), I would not arbitrarily come here if the prime minister did
not give consent.
"I came here to give focus to ensure BN wins
in this area and instead I want to focus this chair simply because it's
been over two years since I came here to service," he said.
Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat currently held by former MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel who won in GE13.
In the 13th general election, Kayveas contest on a BN ticket in Bedamar
Pasir state seat but lost to Terence Naidu V. King of DAP.
